We were very honored last week to be featured with the San Antonio Public Library on NEWS4SA to talk about San Antonio's Maker Faire. The Maker Faire embodies, in a one day event, everything we believe in! This local faire is part of a larger Maker Movement, and the goal is simple: to inspire YOU to create. That is the very heart of what Tickled Dragon Forge is; A place to find inspiration to create.
This is the 6th year the Library has spearheaded this event and they're currently looking for more crafters, artists, performers, and scientists to show off and demonstrate their passions, experiments and hobbies.
One of the things we love most about San Antonio, our home city, is its artistic life force. Color, vibrancy, and art run through its veins, and it is alive with creativity. This city’s ever growing fervor for art is built upon its diverse and meaningful history.
Our role, as we see it, is to ignite that fervor, that spark into a wildfire of creativity. We want to see you experience the pride and joy of making something with your own two hands. We want to see YOUR creativity make waves that send love and positivity into every corner of our community. Even if you don’t feel like a maker, you can be one! There are as many ways to be a maker as there are people who dare to create.
In modern America, it sometimes feels as though the old ways are gone. Artisan crafts are often thought of as dying out, but the truth is these skills aren’t forgotten, they’re just sometimes forgotten about. We no longer need to know how to make a bowl from clay, or forge a spoon from a chunk of iron. But the knowledge of HOW to do these things hasn’t been lost. And as our society continues to awaken from our trance of over reliance on consumerism, we are remembering the value of “hand made.”
So come out and join us on Saturday March 21, 2020 (Now postponed until September 2020 based off CDC recommendations) at the San Antonio Maker Faire from 11am-3:00pm. In doing so you are supporting the artisans, makers and crafters of this city. And who knows, it might just inspire you to create your next masterpiece. Come be inspired!
Tell us: What inspires you?
